As I mentioned in my last post, I’m not in competition with online services that provide contracts because they can’t – and don’t – give any legal advice.
I do.
Besides that, I take the time to understand my client’s business, the results they want, and discuss all the options out there and strategy to achieve their goals. I don’t just provide a simple template; I customize documents to their situation and their goals.
And there’s more that I do that online services don’t.
As my clients start using my documents, I’m still here for them. I will make adjustments to the documents if needed. I will help them when someone asks for changes. I become part of their business team. I’m also licensed and insured, and so, if I do screw something up, the client has a real way to get it resolved.
I’m not knocking online services, because some of them are pretty good.
If a client’s situation is straightforward and the client doesn’t mind doing a bit of work and has some idea of what they’re doing, they 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆 will 𝗯𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲.
But that’s kinda the problem. Life is rarely straightforward. And most people don’t know what they don’t know. If something is important enough to need a legal document, the words “probably will be fine” are not very reassuring.
