When Contracts Need a Change
My client "Mike," a website developer, had a written contract with his customer but halfway through the project, it became evident that the scope needed to change, and the price needed to be adjusted.
Mike had a discussion with his customer, and the customer nodded his approval, but Mike didn’t get a change order signed. After completing the work, the customer refused to pay the bill and Mike had an uphill battle to collect.
The problem with not documenting agreements is the loss of both predictability and transparency: someone’s expectations or interpretations of behavior can easily be mistaken.
